CWAY Taps Akinrimisi to Lead Group Marketing, Signals Bold Growth Push

Samuel Olabode Akinrimisi has rejoined CWAY Group as Group Head of Marketing, marking a significant leadership shift within Nigeria’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.

Before this appointment, he served as New Product Development Lead at Eko Supreme Resources Nigeria Limited, where he played a key role in product innovation. His return to CWAY, however, comes with expanded responsibilities and signals the company’s intent to scale its marketing influence through proven internal talent.

The elevation follows his earlier stint as Deputy Marketing Director at CWAY and reflects a strategic decision to prioritise institutional knowledge and execution continuity over external hiring. Analysts say the move underscores a broader consolidation effort aimed at strengthening brand equity and accelerating growth across the Group’s consumer portfolio.

In his new role, Akinrimisi will oversee brand architecture, portfolio positioning and long-term expansion strategy. His appointment highlights CWAY’s confidence in leadership continuity as a driver of sustained competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving market.

Industry observers note that internal promotions of this nature help minimise transition risks while ensuring alignment with existing business objectives, an increasingly common approach among FMCG companies facing dynamic consumer trends.

Akinrimisi’s career reflects a steady progression across finance, commercial operations and brand leadership. He began at AIMS Asset Management Company before moving into product and market-facing roles at Nycil Limited.

He later held strategic roles at Nagode Industries Limited, where he managed key accounts such as Berger Paints Nigeria and Chemical and Allied Products Plc, while expanding distribution networks.

At Eko Supreme Resources Nigeria Limited, he built his reputation in consumer marketing through roles spanning business development and brand management, overseeing products like Good Mama Detergent.

His tenure at HPZ Limited, part of PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, further strengthened his credentials. There, he led category strategy and communications for the Haier Thermocool brand, contributing to multiple industry awards, including top honours at the Advertisers Association of Nigeria African Marketing Awards.

In 2023, he joined CWAY Food and Beverages Nigeria Limited as Deputy Marketing Director, where he helped restructure marketing operations and improve campaign delivery. His contributions supported the company’s recognition by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, including the ASP Compliance Award in the food and beverage category.

Afterward, he returned to Eko Supreme Resources Nigeria Limited to lead new product development, where he contributed to the launch of SoKlin Smart Liquid Detergent, further reinforcing his dual strength in innovation and brand execution.

His achievements have earned him several accolades, including the Leadership Award in Marketing at the 2025 MARKETING EDGE Awards.

Beyond his corporate roles, Akinrimisi is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and serves as Treasurer of the Advertisers Association of Nigeria, representing the body at the Advertising Standards Panel of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria. He is also affiliated with the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

He holds a degree in Industrial Chemistry from Adekunle Ajasin University and an MBA in Marketing from University of Lagos.

Akinrimisi’s appointment comes at a critical time for Nigeria’s FMCG sector, where competition and consumer expectations continue to evolve. His return to CWAY at group level is expected to drive stronger coordination across brands and sharpen execution.

More broadly, the move signals CWAY’s commitment to sustained growth, leveraging experience and internal expertise to navigate an increasingly competitive landscape.
